Long or Short Vacation

Some people believe that students should be given one long vacation each year. Others believe that students should have several short vacations throughout the year. Which viewpoint do you agree with? Use specific reasons and examples to support your choice.

I think both issues have advantages as well as disadvantages. In the following paragraphs, I will analyze both opinions and my point of view which is that students should have one long vacation and one small vacation every year.

On the one hand, one long vacation has some advantages for students. First of all, there are lots of international students in universities, also their lots of students in different colleges who their hometowns are different from the city of college. So when students want to return to their countries or hometowns they prefer to have enough time. Second of all, if students have a long vacation they will have more time for earning money. This will help students to be more independent. Also, it will help college fresh students to find their ways out in society and consider how they will survive without their parent’s pockets. If you separate the vacation to several pieces no employee would hire a student for only some days. The third benefit is that a long vacation gives students lots of opportunities to travel, to see other countries, other cities, and other cultures and to learn more from travelling and experiencing.

On the other hand, several short vacations have other benefits too. First of all, students will have more time for studying and preparing themselves for incoming exams. Also, they will have more time during the year for rejuvenation, for exercising in gyms or celebrating with their friends. They will have more time to make some new friends. Also, one long vacation has a negative aspect: students may forget many subjects from last semester and they will waste some time remembering what the lost in their vacation.

Finally, to summarize, I think it would be better if students have one long vacation in summer, to have enough time for working or returning to their country or hometown. Also, one small vacation in winter, to use it for celebration, refreshment or reviewing their studies.
