A Good Neighbor

Neighbors are the people who live near us. In your opinion, what are the qualities of a good neighbor? Use specific details and examples in your answer.

In my point of view, the quality of a good neighbor depends on the characteristics of our self. I mean, people define good and bad neighbors differently, but it depends on some aspects like where you are leaving, in the city center of a large city or in a rural area, which kind of house you have? An apartment or a traditional house, you are living with your family or you are alone? I think we can classify people into two different ways. One way is classifying people by the type of house they have. The second way is dividing them into warm-blooded people and people who do not like to have so many relationships. We can define a good neighbor concerning two attributes: First, a good neighbor with respect to the house type (apartment vs townhouse), second, a good neighbor with respect to the persons’ personality (warm-blooded vs. people who like loneliness). In the following paragraphs, I will describe the qualification of a good neighbor in these two ways.

For the first classification, I think we can classify people into two groups, people who live in an apartment or who leave in a town house. In my opinion, most of the people who live in apartments like to have a silent environment, so they prefer to have a neighbor with fewer noises. They want their neighbors not to have so many parties, not to smoke, not to watch TV with a loud sound, not to have noisy kids, not to have a controversy with their partners, and not to commute into their house in irregular hours like after midnight or early mornings. For example, some years ago I lived in an apartment in which the elevator had lots of noise, and I had a neighbor who used the elevator every midnight, as a result, he woke me up and made me so angry every night.

However, for the people who live in the suburbs and in town houses, the situation is different. They do not care about the noise, they do not care about time of your commuting either. Instead, they want to have a warm-blooded neighbor. A neighbor that/who they can greet every time they see. They like to have a neighbor who can drink with them some times. Or they can borrow some stuff like a mower or a ladder from them. Maybe the best neighbor for a person in the suburb would be a neighbor who is kind and would help others when they need help.

In the second classification, in my idea, there are two types of people, the warm-blooded ones and the people who like to be alone and are not eager to make a relationship with everybody. The first group always likes to have a conversation and convey with other people around them. So, for them, a good neighbor will be a neighbor who cares, who is kind and wants to talk. The second group is the people who enjoy their solitude. They don’t like their neighbors knock their doors and bother their private loneliness.

In my point of view, a good neighbor is a neighbor who offers you help. For example, when you want to go out, he offers you for babysitting. Also, he should regard what time it is, if it is after midnight he should be quiet. If he wants to have a party he should consider to lower the party noise.
