Classes to Choose

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? High schools should allow students to study the courses that students want to study. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

The question of whether high school students should be allowed to choose their courses is one of the topics that makes (divides/categorizes/classifies) people into two groups of proponents and opponents. In the following paragraphs, I will present my point of view in favor of people who believe we should trust our grown up students to choose their purpose and their path to that purpose.

On one hand, some people believe that high school students are still not mature enough and they do not grow up as much as they can decide for their future only by themselves. Even they can use the limitation of legal age in voting and wedding as a proof of their assertion. They think, government, or in other words, the mature people should decide what is best for educating in high schools.

On the other hand, some other people believe that we should let our children be independent. They have wisdom, feelings, and they know about the skills they have, so they can find information about the courses they like, and the courses they need in their future.

In my idea, high school students can decide about their future occupation. They have some hobbies and some goals in their lives, so they will be able to choose which courses are useful in their future and for reaching their goals. Also, they will be able to choose the course they like to have as a hobby. For example, some students do not like to exercise. They want to know about cinema or literature, we can allocate some classes for teaching more information about theater or literature. In high school, I was eager to know more about politics, economics, and history, but what I have been compelled to read? Reading, memorizing and again memorizing the religious books.
